A Honeybee? Snapped in the garden
20_03NHIN_301_01

This is a pair of Southern Hawker Dragonflies mating. I have occasionally seen them clattering past while working by my pond but have never been able to photograph them. Except for this shot, which was taken at a local Yellow Book Garden Open to the Public. I can't remember where but it doesn't matter as they are widespread throughout Southern England.

This gallery shows pictures of Overton's insects, snails and slugs. This could be a big gallery but we don't have a lot of pictures at present and even less knowledge of the subjects. More pictures are wanted and more details to add to descriptions - please.

First we have butterflies which look a lot nicer than slugs. This is a Peacock butterfly (Inachis io) - quite common but beautiful none the less. A garden snap.

A Treecreeper on the Test, East of Overton. Look at the size of the claws. No wonder it can run up and down trees so easily. March 2010
